Recently, I enjoyed participating in the Poetry Super Highway exchange and noticed that a number of poets involved have not filled out their Amazon author's page. This is highly valuable, free real estate online so I wrote up some tips on how to do it.
Anyone who has a book, essay in an anthology, poem in an anthology or has contributed significantly to a book is able to create an Amazon author's page. Use your regular Amazon account information to sign in at Author's Central [https://authorcentral.amazon.com] to start the process.
Before going to Author's Central, I suggest you open a word document, make a list of books you have significantly contributed to, write a great third person bio for yourself, and gather a list of blog feeds where your work appears.
Also note that some of whatever you put on Amazon.com get distributed automatically to other Amazon sites around the world. Some other sites you can also change things on the site for example for Amazon France.
Books and Bios
For an idea of what you can do with your Amazon author's page here is mine http://www.amazon.com/-/e/B0054RZ4A0
Here is Rick Lupert's page https://www.amazon.com/Rick-Lupert/e/B002LMF87K
There are links to several blogs I contribute to that now show up on my Amazon author's page. One advantage of having a blog feed on your Amazon author's page is that the Amazon page changes each time you post a blog and Google loves change.
You can also post eight pictures of yourself (profile picture, pictures of you reading your poetry or teaching a class, etc.)
You can post three videos up to 10 minutes each (book readings, teaching, explaining your poetic process, or a video promoting your book).
All of this information, pictures and videos can be changed when you have something new.
The final thing you want to post on your Amazon author's page is events where you will be speaking, presenting or teaching that are related to your book.
Amazon Reviewer's Page
You may also want to spruce up your Amazon reviewer's profile so that when you review items on Amazon, the information about you and your books shows up with your review. Here is mine as an example: on a review https://www.amazon.com/This-Summer-That-Book-Poems/dp/9385436708
On this profile you can write about your book and connect your social media profiles. A link to this profile shows up whenever you review a book or item on Amazon.
Here is a link to the book I received from Sanjeev Sethi as part of the Poetry Super Highway exchange and wrote a review. https://www.amazon.com/This-Summer-That-Book-Poems/dp/9385436708
If I can help you with setting up your Amazon profile let me know. Kimberly Burnham firstname.lastname@example.org

I am looking for guest blog opportunities and a position as poet-in-residence. My current project is writing dictionary poems using words in different languages for the English word "peace." You can read some of my poems on Poemhunter .
As poet-in-residence I would write poems on different words in different languages and broadcast them throughout the social media blogosphere. Each poem would link back to your site where the word or language appeared.
I would expect some sort of stipend and a six month to one year placement. Please contact me for details if your organization is interested in having a poet-in-residence to help get your message out. Nervewhisperer@gmial.com
