Language Development and Communication in Boys with Fragile X Syndrome and Autism
Literature Review Abstract: Consonant and Communication Predict Vastness of Vocabulary
How many consonants you can use and overall early communication skills can be used to predict how many words you will be able to use later, say researchers in a study of boys with fragile X syndrome and autism symptoms..
"The predictive ability of early consonant inventory and intentional communication on later expressive language was examined in 36 boys with fragile X syndrome (FXS). Autism symptom severity was included as a potential moderator. Participants were visited in their homes twice over a 6-year period, and mother-child interactions were videotaped, coded, and transcribed behavior by behavior. Consonant inventory and concurrent autism symptom severity were predictive of later number of different words, as was the interaction between the two. Intentional communication was not predictive of number of different words. These findings provide additional specific evidence for differences in foundational language abilities associated with autism symptom severity in boys with FXS. Clinical implications are discussed." - Fielding-Gebhardt, H. and S. F. Warren (2019). "Early Predictors of Later Expressive Language in Boys With Fragile X Syndrome." A found poem is a poem crafted from the words of another—a quote from someone famous or words found on a scrap of paper written by someone unknown to the poet. A found poem can be teased out of the words of a friend or a colleague, occasionally a child. Sometime the words are written out in the same order as they are found, sometimes the order is changed, fine tuned, or adjusted. The words are changed, made the poet's own by what is taken and what is left behind. Choices are made and that makes all the difference.

work for our freedom
in the same boat now

by avoiding life

value life more

I am looking for guest blog opportunities and a position as poet-in-residence. My current project is writing dictionary poems using words in different languages for the English word "peace." You can read some of my poems on Poemhunter .
As poet-in-residence I would write poems on different words in different languages and broadcast them throughout the social media blogosphere. Each poem would link back to your site where the word or language appeared.
I would expect some sort of stipend and a six month to one year placement. Please contact me for details if your organization is interested in having a poet-in-residence to help get your message out. Nervewhisperer@gmial.com
